General Precautions

  • Always consult your healthcare professional before starting RMT or making changes to your prescribed medications or treatment plans.
  • Do not use MyLungBuddy™ during activities requiring concentration, such as driving, walking, or operating machinery.
  • To avoid the transmission of infections, we recommend not sharing your device, even with family members.
  • MyLungBuddy™ is intended solely for respiratory muscle training. It is not designed to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition.

Suitability For Users

  • Age Restrictions: Children under 16 should use MyLungBuddy™ only with adult supervision. The device is not suitable for children under 7 due to small parts.
  • Pregnancy: If you are pregnant or might be pregnant, consult your doctor before using the device.

Proper Usage Guidelines

  • When training, you should feel resistance during breathing but never pain. If you experience pain, stop immediately and consult a healthcare professional.
  • Slight ear discomfort may occur, particularly if recovering from a cold. If this persists, seek medical advice.
  • If you experience dizziness while using MyLungBuddy™, take a break and extend the rest period between breaths.
  • Avoid use if you have a cold, sinusitis, or respiratory tract infection until symptoms subside.
  • Do not use MyLungBuddy™ if you have a ruptured eardrum or other ear-related conditions.

Important Considerations For Healthcare Professionals

Before recommending MyLungBuddy™, healthcare professionals should evaluate the following conditions on a case-by-case basis:

  • A history of spontaneous pneumothorax (collapsed lung without trauma).
  • Pulmonary hypertension or large bullae on a chest X-ray.
  • Marked osteoporosis with a history of rib fractures.
  • Recent chest, oral, facial, or neck surgery.
  • Nosebleeds (epistaxis), haemoptysis, or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) drainage.
  • Ongoing or recovering lung transplant or lung resection surgery.

Contraindications

MyLungBuddy™ is not recommended for individuals with the following conditions:

  • Recent abdominal surgery or abdominal hernia.
  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure (hypertension) or heartburn (GERD).
  • Severe asthma with frequent exacerbations or low symptom perception.
  • Conditions that contraindicate increased intrathoracic or intracranial pressure (similar to the Valsalva maneuver).
  • Worsening signs or symptoms of heart failure.
